Blake Miller

Blake Miller is another of the ever-growing, list of Exit Stencil artists that demand attention. His sophomore effort, Burn Tapes, comes out on 4/21 and based on an early preview it should do well. His music has sort of a folk/60’s feel as evidenced by the track Long Hair (yes, you can download it).  At times it reminds me of Sparklehorse , particularly when he tosses in a bit of an edge (as on The Ghost Of My Soul), but it also has the charm of someone like the Shins (think Oh, Inverted World).

Although Blake is now located in Portland I’m hoping he’ll make a swing though central NC in the not too distant future (and all the other Exit Stencil bands too). It’s sure looking like I’m not going to make it up to Cleveland any time soon (unfortunately).

reminds me most of Sparklehorse, but there are moments when his music has some of the innocence of early Shins.  It has sort of a folk/60’s feel as evidenced by the track Long Hair (yes, you can download it).
