Nick Lowe

Wow.  That’s the best way to describe it.  Went to the Ron Sexsmith / Nick Lowe show last night at The ArtsCenter in Carrboro. Simply awesome.

I’ve never heard anything by Ron, but he was quite good.  He performed two songs that are more well known as Feist songs… Secret Heart and one other… songs that are actually his. Surprise, surprise.  Shows what little I know.  Anyway, go see him if he comes your way.

What to say about Nick?  Heavens… he was killer good.  He played and played and played.  Two encores,   with one song in the first encore with Ron (great harmony of voices). He played Cruel to be Kind, which I wasn’t expecting at all.  He also played (What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding, which just blew me away (some guy in the bathroom asked me if Elvis wrote that and had to set him straight). There were several other familiar songs in there, but I’m horrible with song titles. If he comes your way, just freak’in go.
