SC take two
Its now the Democrats turn in SC… tomorrow to be exact… with another primary.
This one is a tough call, other than the obvious fact that Edwards will finish a distant third. I read something this past week that summed it up quite well (if I could remember where I would credit it). Edwards has been running for President since he lost out with Kerry in 2004. He hasn’t quit this race as yet because he doesn’t have anything waiting in the wings. What would his next move be? What would he do?
He’s already publicly stated that he will not be a vice-presidential running mate; not that anyone would consider him. I think he would be more of a liability than an asset. Could he pull a Gore i.e. go into seclusion for a while, then return with bang? Nope. Can’t see him in that role. He’s a true lost soul swimming in a fish bowl.
Enough on third place.
The bickering and bullshit of this past week between Obama and Clinton has soured both campaigns and many supporters. The party and the two camps don’t need this crap. I’m sure the Republicans are loving it, but its not helping either side. It needs to stop and it needs to stop now. Stick to the issues, as muddied as both sides make them, but leave the personal attacks for when you are alone in the bathroom.
So who will win? Its going to be a close one, but I think Obama will win by a small margin. I’m 0-2 on these pre-primary predictions, so you might be wise to go with Clinton.
If its close I doubt a win or a lose will matter much as everyone heads into Super Tuesday. However, if there is a significant gap it could be trouble for the second place finisher (or maybe not). There seems to be no momentum anywhere at the moment.
