Digging through the vinyl for Joy Division
I should have pulled this one out earlier when the movie Control was just hitting the box office, but for whatever reason I didn’t. Anyway, what reminded me of this particular album was Radiohead‘s In Rainbows package. This is Joy Division’s Still double album in the photo album-like binder. Released after Ian Curtis’ death, this is a live performance bundled with a collection of outtakes.
While the packaging is not as flashy as Radiohead’s, there is something to be said for the sparseness of this design (which was typical of the Joy Division album/single covers). Its really nothing more than a design by typeface.
