Replacement parts

I have discussed this with many people over the years, but one of the biggest bonuses of the Internet has to be the ability to quickly locate parts.  I am talking about replacement parts as in parts for a grill, parts for a washing machine and parts for a garage door opener.

Prior to the Interent replacing rusted out grill parts would have been next to impossible.  It would most likely have meant purchasing a new grill.  The same could be said for the garage door opener.  As to the washing machine, that would have meant a service call versus DIY.

I just finished replacing parts in the garage door opener… an opener from 1994.  It was simply a matter of noting the model and serial numbers and then some googling.  I had the parts in a couple of days and repaired it in a couple of hours.  It sure beats purchasing and install a brand new unit.
