A good week for CDs

It was a good week for music CDs. My order for the first three Say Hi To Your Mom cds arrived on Thursday (a real steal at $8/cd).  I went to Schoolkids the same evening and picked up John Vanderslice‘s Pixel Revolt and Mazarin‘s We’re Already Here from the used bin and then from the new side of the house the latest from Grizzly Bear, Pete Yorn and the Pipettes. Friday saw the arrival of my Sonic Boom order for Broadcast and Panda & Angel.

The  Broadcast cd is interesting as a collection of b-sides, rarities, etc.  I was listening to it yesterday and there were several songs that reminded me of Can. Its not for everyone nor is it for every mode, but its quite good.

I was going to purchase the first Grizzy Bear cd because it was on sale, but the sales clerk told me to get the new one.  He said the first one was good, but the new one was much better.  He said “it was they figured everything out” on the new one.

In other news there are two disappointments. The new Shins cd is not coming out until January 23 of 2007 and there is a Clap Your Hands Say Yeah live CD that is only going to be available at their fall shows (with none of those shows in this area).

Lastly, Band of Horses is playing at the Cat’s Cradle this Thursday (9/14). I will be there for this one.
